Bayonne’s Beloved El Aguila Dorada Opens Location #2!
By popular demand, El Aguila Dorada opened their second location at 412 Broadway this past December. The authentic Mexican menu and tantalizing cocktail list is identical to that at the original restaurant (830 Broadway), but the new spot is three times its size. At 5,000 square feet, it seats up to 120 for dinner and another 60 seats in the bar. It’s now the biggest Mexican restaurant in Bayonne, and one of our all-time favorites in Hudson County. While we love the quaint, no-frills, friendly vibe at the original restaurant, we appreciate the artistic design touches (including fantastic Mexican-inspired artwork) at the new space, and how much easier it is to accommodate a large group.
You can’t go wrong ordering here, with a huge selection of tasty fillings for flautas, tacos, burritos, gorditas, enchiladas and chilaquiles, all standard Mexican dishes stuffed with not-so-typical flavor and complexity. Portions are huge, so be prepared to share! If we have to pick one favorite dish, it’s the Mixlo Alambres – a mix of chicken, steak and shrimp sautéed with slices of jalapenos and onions, melted cheese and served with rice and beans. As expected, the margaritas and sangria are dangerously good, but there is also a full bar and great selection of wine and beers. The service is fantastic and it’s always nice to support local, home grown businesses like El Aguila Dorada and the husband and wife team behind it.
