Celebrate Mother Earth on April 27!
This year, Earth Day falls on a workday (Monday April 22), but worry not – the real party in JC will be going on Saturday April 27!
“Celebrate Mother Earth Festival” is a fabulous, family-friendly event at the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery, located at 475 Newark Ave. Gates open at 12pm for a full-on party with;
Cute animals - Check out baby goats, sheep and other livestock. Local heroes The Liberty Humane Society will also be there with domesticated cats and pups to fall in love with and take home.
Kids’ stuff - Garden Stone Painting, & Planting activities, & of course, meeting & petting the animals.
Environmental exhibits - Urban farming & planting activities via the Hudson County Sierra Club, Sustainable JC, JC Office of Sustainability, the JC Gardening Coalition & the P.E.A.C.E Garden & other Community Garden reps.

Good eats (with vegan options) & snacks & drinks available for purchase, plus a Wine & Beer Bar for the Adults.
$: Adult Admission $7, Children & Seniors $5, Children 3 & under Free. Also, a Special ‘Family rate’ of $20 for family of Five. All proceeds are applied 100% to the all-volunteer historic Cemetery Preservation Mission. If you’ve never been, the cemetery is an amazing institution. Founded in 1829 and painstakingly cared for by local hero Eileen Markenstein and a dedicated volunteer Board of Trustees, it is a National Treasure and is the resting place of soldiers from the Revolutionary & Civil Wars, the War of 1812, the Spanish-American War, WWI & II and Jersey City founders & legends.
