Covetables, the retail boutique and art gallery/store in Bergen-Lafayette, opened just shy of 17 months ago, but owner Jonathan Acheson is a long-time resident of the neighborhood. A painter himself, Acheson is a passionate promoter of other artists works. “We now have about 70 artists work on display here, and roughly half of them are from Jersey City,” he explains. Artfully displayed works for sale include framed and unframed paintings, prints, drawings and photographs, fiber art, masks, ceramics and handmade jewelry.  Note to artists out there: Covetables is always seeking new artists in all media. Per their website, interested artists should submit up to 10 jpegs and a list of titles, dimensions and media to information@covetablesnj.com.  Including a brief bio and artist statement is appreciated but not required.

On the retail end, Covetables has a great selection of items for the home. We especially love the selection of potted plants, plant stands and tables, as well as the line of pottery and vintage ceramic crocks. There’s so much more to pore over, including a lovely line of throw blankets, new and vintage glassware, antiques, pillows, and various objets d’art. Furniture on offer include rugs, chairs, sofas, bar carts, lighting, and there’s a funky line of kitchen items, too. Covetables is also a great place to source a unique gift, such as candles, teas, artisanal honey and a super fun, saucy line of greeting cards and writing instruments.

Covetables is currently open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am – 7pm, Sunday by appointment, and closed on Mondays.
