Not Your Average Toasts at Crema
Crema is somewhat of a hidden gem on the West Side, tucked into a cozy brownstone basement on the corner of Duncan and Bergen Avenues. Despite the diminutive size, Crema is so many things to the community. It is a café, restaurant, ice cream parlor, co-working space and art gallery all at once. As for the food, Crema is ground central for delicious and unique toasts. Yes, they have the ubiquitous avocado toast, which is perfect. They also have Brisket Toast – braised with red wine, caramelized onions and scallions. The Curried Chicken Toast comes with yogurt, cilantro, celery, cranberries and cashew nuts. There are many other toast options including the Vegan with eggplant spread, tomato, cucumber and radish. There are also waffles, croissant sandwiches, empanadas, pastries, barista-made matcha, lattes, coffee, and tea drinks along with ice cream. Crema was conceived and created by a local couple and while the ownership has recently changed, everything that makes Crema so wonderful remains the same.
