Green Pear Heights is a Gem
Isabella Molnar, the hospitable owner of Hoboken’s beloved Green Pear Café, has opened a second restaurant in the Heights and it’s fabulous. Green Pear Heights, located at 93 Franklin Street, is a small space offering huge flavors, courtesy of Hungarian and Italian culinary leanings. Unlike the original locale, Green Pear Heights is dinner only, open Tuesdays through Sundays, from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm.
There’s fun to be had here for carnivores, adventurous eaters and vegetarians alike. In that order, our table of diverse diners enjoyed the Hungarian Charcuterie plate, The Pig’s Feet Stew with Pasta, and the Spinach and Broccoli Pierogi. As of now the restaurant is BYOB, so we took this opportunity to pick up and sample some lovely natural wines from Riverview Wine Beer and Spirits, located near by on 43 Bowers St.
Dessert was also delicious – we opted for the savory Apple Pierogi with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We finished up with a round of macchiatos and an amiable chat with the owner. Her vision is to have the restaurant become a community-centered hub, and there is even a small stage which she welcomes residents to come take advantage of. In a neighborhood increasingly spoilt for choice in terms of great restaurants, we highly recommend a night out here. It’s a very special place with a homey, old-world atmosphere to match the sumptuous eats. Enjoy!
