Just Beclaws is Still Bustling

The brothers behind Just Beclaws, Francis and Nambinh Tran, cooked up something special when they opened this beloved seafood restaurant on Newark Ave in 2015.  Not surprising as they grew up in the food business – their family opened up the Vietnamese Restaurant Miss Saigon here over 20 years ago. Seafood is a staple of Vietnamese culture and cuisine, and they carried that with them to Just Beclaws, adding Southern and Cajun inspired flavors to the mix. It’s been a favorite spot since opening, and that has continued with their busy online ordering business, open Thursday – Sunday from 3:00 pm  to 7:45 pm. Ordering is online via takeout.skytab.com/justbeclaws2 and pickup only.

Our favorite sandwiches include the super-fresh and buttery Lobster Roll and the Crab Cake Sandwich, both well-priced at $18 and $11, respectively.  Another great deal is the shrimp by the pound - $13 with head and shell, and $18 peeled, cleaned, peeled and deveined.  Choose your flavor – everything from plain to lemon pepper to garlic and butter to Cajun – and your level of heat. Appetizers include casual fried seafood classics like shrimp, catfish, calamari and oysters, and 6 variations of deliciously seasoned fries. Raw bar options currently available are Shrimp Cocktail and Chilled Lobster. It is a different kind of summer for sure, but no reason not to enjoy scrumptious seafood from this tried and true spot.
