The Roxy Opens in Bergen-Lafayette
A beautiful new restaurant with an impressive pedigree is open in Bergen-Lafayette at the base of the Starling residential building. The Roxy is the passion project of three industry pros. Matt Moschella and Drew Buzzio worked their magic at Corto, the beloved Italian BYOB in the Heights. At The Roxy, they have brought on Justin Buzzio (whose resume includes time at Jean-Georges) as General Manager and creator of a first-rate beverage program to match the heights of Chef Rachel Dos Santos’ menu. At the Roxy, the Mediterranean-inspired menu parts ways with her divine pastas at Corto and instead focuses on seafood main dishes like Red Snapper, Sea Scallops, and Atlantic Halibut. Their signature main however is the Filet of Duck with tatsoi, turnip and a plum wine demi-glace.
We had a fantastic dinner at the bar during day two of their soft opening which found the restaurant packed with people and good vibes. The dining room is modern yet warm with industrial building elements effectively paired with art-deco inspired touches of rounded corners and furniture, impeccably upholstered by Jammal Upholstery on Newark Ave. We loved the Sea Scallops with lobster couscous and the Pemaquid Mussels starter with sake, soy, scallion, beans and miso-butter. Both were perfectly cooked in delicious broths. As for drinks, it’s a fun list. We enjoyed a refreshing Garibaldi – Campari, Aperol, Orange and Grapefruit Juices. The staff is friendly and the service was first-rate. We definitely recommend a trip here – head to their website to learn more about the menus and book a reservation online through Resy.
