Last June, Jersey City joined yoga devotees across the world in celebrating International Yoga Day. The first ever JC Yoga Fest was a street-wide open practice and celebration of yoga on the Newark Ave. Pedestrian Plaza.  This year’s Yoga Fest, once again a joint production of Jivamukti Yoga Center and the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District, will have an expanded selection of events and entertainment on offer. All are welcome to attend and practice.

When:  This is an all-day event, from 7:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Registration will begin at 6:30 am, and the first 200 to register will get a gift bag. You can also pre-register in advance:  http://yogafestjerseycity.com/registration-page/

What to Expect:  The Main Yoga Area on the Plaza will feature guided practices of 108 Sun Salutations, 108 Japa Mantras, Kundalini, Yin and Laughter Yoga, and a practice led by international Yoga superstar teacher Yogeswari.  Inside the Jivamukti Studio will be a day of mediations and wellness seminars. The Nirvana Tent will offer workshops on T’ai Chi, Chair Yoga, Pranayama Breathing, and Yoga for Kids. The Music Stage will have continuous performances from celebrated artists with ties to the spiritual and yoga communities.

What & Where to Eat and Shop:  Food trucks (including vegan vendors) will be located at the Grove St. Plaza. There will also be vegan, eco-friendly, yoga-related services and products.

What to Bring: It is suggested to bring a yoga mat and towel, water, sunblock and sunglasses.  And, of course, good vibes!
