Classic Soul Food from Carolyn’s Kitchen

Carolyn’s has been open in Jersey City since 2008 serving up authentic Southern Soul food to satiate Southern transplants and anyone yearning for authentic, real Southern food. Led by the lovely mother-son team of Carolyn and Cornelius Frazier, the restaurant keeps daytime hours so order ahead if you are planning to order for dinner. Speaking of there are great family-style platters so you can load up on crowd-pleasing favorites like chicken wings, shrimp, fried Whiting, catfish, pork chops and all the sides you would hope for like potato salad, yams, collards, rice, etc.

While Carolyn’s does not have a very active presence on social media (nothing wrong with that!), the website does have a blog that includes a couple of classic Southern recipes (corn bread, collard greens, etc.) and we enjoyed trying them out.

Carolyn’s is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12pm – 6pm.
