If you have been down to Harborside recently you have surely noticed the extensive renovations underway, such as the Pedestrian Plaza being installed at 210 Harborside. Another big change is the arrival of the Smorgasburg Food Market. The first Smorgasburg opened in Brooklyn 12 years ago and eventually expanded to LA and NYC, but this is the first foray into New Jersey. It will take place at 195 Hudson St. each Saturday from late May to October, from 11am to 6pm.

The organizers have pledged to implement precautionary measures to keep aligned with COVID guidelines and to make sure the market does not get too crowded. They are limiting the number of vendors for now to help facilitate that.  The current list includes ATM Vegan Deli, JC’s very own Baonanos, Berg’s Pastrami, Big Mozz, Bisska, C Bao, Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria, D’Abruzzo, Duck Season, Oyster Party, Wood-Fired Edibles, Mav’s Top Buns, The SmoKING of Meats, Vaquero Elotes, Parish Po’ Boys, Chofi Taco, Bon Chovie, Petisco Brazuca, Tojo’s Kitchen, Blue’s Roadside, Bona Bona Ice Cream, The Good Batch, Ring Ding Bar, The Rockville Market Farm, Monks Meats and Valentine Burger Co.

Even pre-pandemic, Harborside had a reputation for really clearing out on the weekend (minus the crowd at Lutze Biergarten), so we think this is a great avenue to really enliven this area. See you there some Saturday!
