Don. Opens in the Heights

The tiny but mightily tasteful Ozu Foods closed in May but thankfully a worthy successor has moved into their cozy little storefront on Hutton St. in the Heights.

Don. is a Japanese restaurant focused solely on donburi, which basically means rice bowl. Pick your protein of choice to sit atop perfectly cooked and seasoned rice accompanied by the extra protein or toppings of your choice. We love the Salmon and Blue Fin Tuna Don with Spicy Mayonnaise and a Soy Marinated Salmon Egg. There is also a BBQ Eel Don, a Salad Don and a vegan option in the Baked Tofu Vegan Don.

Beyond the Dons, they also serve sides of Miso and Olinari Soup as well as Seaweed Salad, and a delightful trio of desserts including Green Tea Cheesecake. They have soft drinks, tea and lattes to drink.

Don. is currently open Wednesday – Saturday from 5pm to 9pm. Online ordering is available through Uber Eats.
