Located on a busy stretch of JKF Boulevard, Falafel Station is such a welcome addition to the ever-growing Journal Square food scene. Hailing themselves as purveyors of the best Falafels in New Jersey, Falafel Station offers a modern mix of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean street food dishes that includes not just falafel but shawarmas (lamb, chicken or beef), kabobs, soup, salads, street fries, desserts and coffee.

Most of the dishes listed above are prepared in one of four ways. The Egyptian style comes with homemade pita, salad, pickles, and tahini or garlic sauce. The Italian style serves up those same add-ons, but substitutes the pita for a hero roll, and tosses in some olives. The Mexican Tortilla style comes on a toasted tortilla with Mexican cheese, olives, tomato and jalapeno. Grab a platter and it comes with yellow rice, salad, pickles, sauce and the pita on the side.

The décor is modern, airy and bright, and livens up this old-school commercial stretch of JFK. We also strongly recommend a side order of Zattar fries – Zattar being a Middle Eastern spice that we didn’t know we needed until we tried these!
