A 2018 Yelp survey of the nation’s most dog-friendly cities included Jersey City in the top ten. All locations were selected based on number of dog-friendly restaurants, hotels and beaches, dog walkers and dog parks, and had a nice writeup in Travel & Leisure. Of course, it takes a real insider to know the hot spots beyond the typical tourist traps. So, without further ado here are our precious Phoebe’s picks for the top parks and paths in JC. P.S if you run into her at any of these on February 15, please wish her a happy anniversary. It’s the day she found her forever home with us, and we are so in love with our little Valentine!

Southwest Park, 58 Jackson St. This newish park on the border of Jersey City and Hoboken is super modern and clean thanks to the pavement, which Phoebe much prefers over gravel.

Harborside Park: 108 1st St, Jersey City, NJ 07302 Nice pedestrian plaza, very clean and separate runs for dogs big and small. A well-kept secret until now!

185 Hudson Street (between Jersey City Urby and the Harborside 5 office complex). The park brings three separate spaces to the waterfront neighborhood — a large dog run, a small dog run, and a children’s playground. The dog runs feature a ramp, a small dog tunnel, and other obstacle courses for dogs to get their daily zoomies in. The park also has a few oversized benches for pup parents to relax while their four-legged friends get their daily exercise. Liberty State Park – While the parks’ 1200 acres of land do not include a dog run, there are plenty of open fields for you and your pooch roam. Keep in mind that the park requires that your dog remains leashed and as always, do remember to pick up after your pet. LSP is open daily from 6am to 10pm.

Phoebe’s Super-Secret Place: Phoebe and her Paulus Hook buddies love to unwind and get away from it all by the Colgate Clock, where they can chase the waves and be free.
