Fall Fitness – Are you In or Out?
As of September 1st, New Jersey gyms are authorized to re-open with restrictions in place. Capacity is limited to 25 percent, and face masks are mandatory for all members and staff. Group class participants must be distanced 200 square feet from each other, and equipment and machines must be spaced 6 feet apart.
Looking forward to getting back in the gym at some point. That said, there are so many great outdoor structured exercise options now being offered by JC gyms – who all deserve a huge shout out for the virtual classes and pick-us-ups they have provided since March. We wrote last month about BASE offering outdoor classes, which have been a big hit for members missing that communal gym feeling.
This September, we plan to spread our wings and try out two relaxing fitness-focused activities to help us head into fall in a healthy mindset.
Outdoor Yoga with Asana Soul Practice
Classes are located at Roberto Clemente Field - the corner of 6th St. and Manila Ave. Participants bring their own mat and follow standard social distancing guidelines. The class schedule will evolve based on customer need. Currently the outdoor schedule is for Open Soul classes – a class for all levels that focuses on a fluid vinyasa style of yoga connecting breath and body and variations for more advanced practitioners. Kayaking with Urban Paddle JC.
Kayaking in the Hudson River is totally on our September bucket list. Urban Paddle requires you to begin with a guided tour to learn safety and skills. The options sound so lovely, including a nighttime LED-lit tour, a sunset tour of the Waterfront and a tour around the Statue of Liberty. Once you have completed the training tour, rentals by the hour are available. They also offer paddle boarding private lessons and rentals.
