Fave Fall Day Trip – Grounds for Sculpture in NJ

Fall is here, finally! This season is all about wonderful weekend day trips to pumpkin patches and nice hikes and fresh apple cider and planting mums and all of that. All here for that but let us please big up our favorite weekend day trip in the fall, which is to the majestic Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton. The trip is 65-74 minutes away from JC and well worth every minute. Why? Well, because it is fabulous.

Grounds for Sculpture is so many things at once and like so many cultural standouts in our State, completely underrated. It is a museum, sculpture garden and arboretum. Outdoors, three hundred contemporary sculptures sit on forty-two acres of beautifully landscaped land while the indoor of the property is home to six galleries of rotating artists works.

Autumn in the Garden is an especially nice time to visit this majestic place’s outdoor grounds, especially at night. Night Forms: Infinite Waves is a new outside experience starting November 25 and it includes new interactive light and sound installations along with new outdoor paths. Indoors, there are two new ceramic exhibitions – Roberto Lugo – The Village Potter and Fragile: Earth. These are both available to view until January 8.

Grounds for Sculpture is a very special place, where the exterior beauty of the landscape and the sculptures among it allow you to connect with nature and art all at once. We cannot recommend Grounds for Sculpture enough as a perfect day trip!
