Gifts, Groceries & More at the Grind General Store
The fab folks behind the Grind Coffee Shop have expanded their Jersey City footprint with The Grind General Store, located at 293 Suydam Avenue in beautiful Bergen-Lafayette. Think of it as the ultimate corner store of your dreams – a place to grab the best coffee and pastry to go, shop from a full selection of produce, pantry goods, drinks and home products, plus gifts galore and a gorgeous selection of potted plants for sale, courtesy of Jersey City’s The Plant House.
The Grind offers both contactless pickup and scheduled delivery via their website https://grindgeneralstore.com/. You will find a complete selection of groceries including produce that is mainly locally sourced within Jersey City and New Jersey, along with a fun line of merchandise (coffee cups, t-shirts, bags, etc.). There are lots of gluten-free and vegan goodies and drinks as well. We wrote about the sublime Baonanas this month – Grind General Store stocks them as well as so many other local brands. You will find established names/products here like Choc Au Pain baguettes lined up next to up and coming brands like Hearth, whose Caribbean-inspired health tonics are pretty enough to package as a gift. We scooped up some of those along with a super-cool Stussy T shirt and a couple of pints of the beloved NYC brand Van Leeuwen ice cream. Another new favorite we discovered here – Cocojune cultured coconut in Strawberry Rhubarb – it is an organic, dairy free pro-biotic with the creamy consistency of yogurt.
It is a great team of people behind the Grind – friendly and neighborhood focused. They made the decision to open the General Store as we anticipate a next wave of COVID 19 restrictions and possible lockdowns. We applaud them along with all the local businesses who have either opened this year or found ways to keep their businesses going.
