Have Fun Shopping Fintage at Sure Things

Marinell Montales and John T. Trigonis are a low-key creative power couple in Jersey City, so it is no surprise that their latest venture, Sure Things, is so special. Situated in a storefront in the Heights that was formerly a hair salon, the space has been meticulously restored to house their collection of fintage (found and vintage) items for sale.

Among the finds here are art deco and antique paintings and prints, pottery, planters, candle holders, vintage glassware, and lots and lots of books. That is not surprising as Marinell is the founder of the JC print and design magazine EIGHTY. The magazine had something of a cult following thanks to the gorgeous layouts and great writing. Unfortunately, they had to shut down production due to printing issues during the pandemic, but the good news is that she is looking to start up a new design publication in the upcoming year. John is well-known as a filmmaker, crowd-funding guru and poet and the couples’ love and knowledge of books is evident here in the quality of the book collections, lovingly grouped and displayed by category. We especially loved the collections of vintage gardening books and books on Native American culture. We also grabbed some super cool vintage JC postcards.

Sure Things is currently open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12pm to 6pm and on weekends from 11am to 6pm. Their IG account @SureThingsFintage is regularly updated to showcase their offerings. There are real treasures to be found here, and they go fast. Happy shopping!
