The Moorefield Group warmly wishes all of you a happy, healthy and festive Holiday Season. With that, we want to pass on some fabulous December events that combine the party spirit with the chance to donate to others in our wonderful community.
Community Treasures and Garden Steaks 2nd Annual Holiday party at O’Learys Publik House, 788 Garfield Ave. Wednesday, December 18 from 7pm – 10pm.
Eat, drink, and be merry at this beloved old-school pub while helping those in need this holiday season. Bring new and gently used warm clothing to be distributed within the community. There will be raffles, prizes and much more merriment to be had. Note: Tina Nalls, the Founder and Executive Director of Community Treasures, is herself a Jersey City treasure. She founded her non-profit in 2011, inspired by her own personal experience after losing her job and finding herself unable to afford clothing for an interview. After a neighbor reached out with donations, Tina vowed to one day pay it forward, and she has done so in spades, devoting every Saturday to collecting and distributing donated clothes and household items to her fellow residents.

Attendees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift card appropriate for children ages 5-17 years old. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Jersey City Ties will match monetary donations up to $300 and will use the proceeds to purchase additional toys and gift cards for the Boys & Girls Club members.

Most-wanted toys include:

– Sports balls (especially footballs and basketballs)
– Lego sets
– Board games
– Dolls (especially Barbies and American Girl Dolls)
– Action figures
– Arts & crafts kits
– Hot Wheels
– Shopkins
– Num Noms
– Teddy Bears
– Play-Doh sets
– Nerf balls (not Nerf guns, please!)

Jersey City Ties launched in October 2011 with the goals of bringing Jersey City professionals together and providing them with an opportunity to actively improve and become engaged in the Jersey City community. Good stuff!
