Must-Have Candles & More – Lucky Honeybee in the Heights
One of the greatest joys of shopping local is encountering entrepreneurs who zero in on their passion – be it a service or product – and then joyfully and quite often perfectly execute their passion project. In the case of Melissa Glick, owner of the Lucky Honeybee in the Heights, that passion is candles. Her candles are amazing. Yes, the small-batch candle marketplace is a crowded one, full of so many small, wonderful brands. So, without taking anything away from the craftsmanship of Glick’s fellow candlemakers, we want to highlight what makes these candles so special.
They are hand poured in small batches here in JC and have pure cotton wicks. They are all crafted with a signature soy & beeswax blend scented with premium fragrance & essential oils that are phthalate-free. Also, they not only smell wonderful, but they look wonderful too – we do not care how good a candle smells if it is outsides do not match its insides, aesthetically. There are beautiful renditions of popular scents like Rose and Sandalwood, Sweet Grass, Sea Salt, etc. - too many to name here so we recommend checking the whole range online or in person for instant gratification. Our favorite candles are the Jersey-inspired candles, like the Pine Barren and Jersey Tomato candles. There are also 3 candles that are an ode to Jersey City’s industrial past – the Soap Mill, Tobacco Leaf and Pencil Shavings. A new scent – Jersey City – is set to drop shortly.
