Don’t get us wrong – we love the comforting crepes and waffles at The Belgian Plate by Waffle It & Co. Located at The District Kitchen at Harborside, their breakfast and lunch menus include both sweet and savory options like the Tuscan Strawberry – a waffle or crepe topped with strawberries, mascarpone, fig glaze and basil, and the Get Me Going, with bacon, mozzarella and spinach. You can also create your own perfect waffle to your exact liking. But our favorite is one of their sandwiches, the Croque Madam – grilled ham and cheese topped with two eggs over-easy served with a side salad. This location has a full-on breakfast and lunch menu that includes salads, omelets, soups, baguettes and more. At their tiny outpost in Hamilton Park, the menu is straight up sweet waffles or crepes with specials like the Berlin Banana – Nutella, banana and whipped cream. Steve and Jenny are the affable couple behind Waffle It & Co. He is Belgian born-and-raised while she hails from the U.S. Together, they do a lovely job bringing comforting food to JC.
