Since opening last February, Korai Kitchen has become a neighborhood favorite in Journal Square. Located in a cozy spot on Summit Ave., Korai Kitchen is the first ever Bangladeshi restaurant in Jersey City. No small feat, considering that with over 66 languages spoken here, Korai Kitchen is doing business in the most diverse City in the U.S.!

Korai Kitchen’s owner, Nur-E, formerly ran Hilsa Grocery on Newark Ave., which was named after the national fish of Bangladesh. Hilsa is such a popular Bangladeshi dish that it is a staple in Korai Kitchen’s daily lunch and dinner buffets, which also include a rotating number of meat, vegetarian and other seafood dishes, along with curried vegetables, lentils, daal, and delicious, mashed up scoops of bhartha – a Bangladeshi favorite, typically made with potatoes, eggplant, or eggs. All food is 100% Halal. The mostly savory, well-seasoned (and not too spicy) dishes are complemented by a glass of cha – a milky, sweet tea. If you are looking for something a little stronger to drink, Korai Kitchen is BYOB.

Korai Kitchen is open 6 days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday. Lunch is served from 12pm – 4pm and dinner from 6pm – 9pm, with the exception of Friday and Saturday nights, when dinner is extended to 9:30 pm.  Grab a seat at this sweet, friendly spot, or take you food to go in a cute little buffet box. Korai recently signed on for delivery service as well, through GrubHub and UberEats. However you get your eats, enjoy!
