Tony Boloney’s Brings Taco Pizza and much, much more to JC
In a City full of delectable pizzerias, another contender has thrown itself in the JC ring. Recently opened on Grove St., Tony Boloney’s started off in Atlantic City in 2009, and gathered tons of national acclaim and press ever since. The extensive menu of “pizza, subs and bad-a$$” grub includes salads, burritos, wings, sandwiches, and a sinfully delicious range of specialty french fries to choose from. But back to that pizza!
Tony Boloney hit the big time with their now famous Taco Pizza. A slice comes with homemade tortilla stuffed with chicken and mezcal-soaked steak, topped with guacamole. A quick look at their admittedly overwhelming menu makes it clear that the crazy creative concoctions don’t stop there. A couple of standouts we sampled include the Tikka, an Indian-flavored pie on a sesame crust with tikka masala coconut curry, paneer, jalapenos and chutney. The General Khan is another favorite, with Mongolian chicken, fresh mozzarella and scallions. Our favorite so far? The Pancho Franco, which comes with grilled chicken, avocado, cilantro, Mexican cheese and a pickled jalapeno cream. Swoon! On the sub and burrito front, we highly recommend the Lil’ Mac. We opted for it as a sub, with shaved rib-eye, sharp cheese, sour pickles and a special secret sauce that did the trick.
The vegan options at Tony Boloney’s are outstanding, too. Our group of mainly carnivores uniformly loved the O.G. Vegan – marinara sauce, vegan mozzarella, herbs, a fine Sicilian EVOO, and herbs. Welcome to the neighborhood, Tony Boloney’s. And if you haven’t been yet, believe the hype on this one. Not to mention, the staff is nice as can be. See you in line!
