The beloved, Brooklyn-born Van Leeuwen ice cream shop has finally opened in Jersey City, downtown on Grove Street. It is their second outpost in the State with the first being at The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford.
Like all their locations throughout the Country, the shop is awash with cheerful bright colors, good vibes and most importantly, great ice cream! They are renowned for their cheerful ethos (great ingredients you can actually pronounce) as well as the original and specialty flavors – Mac ‘N Cheese Ice Cream, anyone? The current flavors on tap include Marionberry Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, Bigface Coffee Affogato, and Sicilian Pistachio to name but a few. And for all you dairy free or vegan ice cream eaters, you are equally afforded delicious and thoughtful flavors like Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Banana Bread Pudding with Fudge Swirl, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The menu also includes Shakes, Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Sundaes. Come on, it’s been a long, hot summer.
