Want to Get Behind the Wheel?

Learning the craft of ceramics and pottery seemed to gain traction over relatively recent years. Perhaps as a reaction to so much screen time, there seemed to be a collective interest in getting crafty and hands on. Then came the pandemic and well, we know how that went. Now that in person everything is back, check out these two great studios in JC. Located in Bergen-Lafayette and Greenville respectively, they both offer instruction for all ages and levels

The New York/New Jersey Academy of Ceramic Art

Located on Pine Street in a turn-of-the-century carriage house with over 3000 square feet of instructional space, this school has been instructing and working with beginner and advanced students since 1997. Head ceramic artist and renowned teacher Frank Bosco oversees a program that offers an extensive and university-level course of instruction in all techniques of working with clay.

The broad selection of classes are offered day and night and cover every element of ceramic study. There are also a revolving number of specialized intensives and workshops for students looking to expand and experience different techniques. The studio environment is perfect for any novice or more advanced student – it is intense and friendly all at once. The facilities are well designed and organized with an impressive supply of tools, glaze materials, research materials, work and storage space. Such is the inspiration here that beginning students we know have been at it and progressing for years.

Winter registration closes December 15 and classes are limited to 6 students.
