Zombie Opera Returns!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year …. Halloween!
So many great traditions abound. The NYC Halloween Parade, Pet and Kid Halloween Costume contests throughout JC…and one more tradition that is on its third year of being and already our favorite, for the sheer scope of the talent and creativity involved. We are talking about the one and only Zombie Opera! Created by a professional group of artists and opera singers in 2019, this fun event (with incredible operatic voices) used to be held on a residential street/home in Hamilton Park on Halloween.
This year, the event will be ahead of Hallowed Eve on Saturday, October 29 (smart move!) from 6pm - 8:30pm at the gazebo in Hamilton Park. This year’s Opera will feature singers Molly Dunn (co-creator of the Zombie Opera, incredible Soprano and leader of Lux Performing Arts), Kofi Hayford, and Lindell Carter singing a variety of songs from “Faust,” “La Traviata,” “La Bohème,” “Carmen,” and “Rigoletto,” to name a few. The orchestra, conducted by Jason Tramm, will include performers from New Jersey City University as well as local community members, and there will even be an American Sign Language interpreter present. The show is directed by Catriona Rubenis-Stevens and produced by Jack Halpin and Teresa Origenes.
Many other amazing operatic voices are joining this performance and you don’t want to miss it.
