Attention vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, and straight up meat eaters – you have to check out Bayonne’s House of Flavor. The food at this family-fun vegan restaurant is bursting with Caribbean and Latin flavors, the super tasty fresh juices and smoothies come packed with nutritional perks, and the bright, cheerful interior all make for a wonderful meal, start to finish.

House of Flavor has a mission; “Our main goal at House of Flavor is providing you with a place where you can not only enjoy a healthy meal but learn about what you are eating as well. Our menu selections will not only leave you satisfied but feeling good throughout your day. We welcome everyone who wants to be or stay healthy. We can't control everything in life but we can control what we put in our bodies.”

Lofty words, for sure. But we have to say we felt fantastic after eating lunch at House of Flavor. We were clear-headed and full of energy. And not from eating seaweed and kale and brown rice and any other of the stereotypically bland foods that might avert you from trying a vegan-only café.

We started off our meal with a side of Mac and Cheese. It was creamy, tasty and had a slight kick. Next off, per staff recommendation, we tried the Chipotle Mango Tacos (2) – battered cauliflower, lettuce, onion and avocado topped with the house spicy mango sauce. It was perfect – light but creamy, satisfying, just enough spice and just enough to eat. We couldn’t resist, however, trying one of the house organic juice combinations, served in a 16 oz. glass. The Orange Potion – orange, carrot, turmeric and ginger – literally put a spring in our step.

House of Flavor has a full salad bar, range of smoothies and fresh juices (try one of their suggested pairings or make up your own), appetizers, salad bowls, sandwiches and burgers, Chef Specialty Entrees and desserts. We plan on eventually working our way through this entire menu. Guilt free, mind you! House of Flavor definitely proves that vegan food is not just good for the planet, but for the mind, body, and palate. Trust us on this one, we will be regulars here and can’t wait to go back!
