Carmine’s is a West Side Classic!

Ask many a JC old-timer which is the best Italian deli in the city and then prepare for some delightful, well-thought out and strongly held opinions. Lots of folks from the West Side swear allegiance to Carmine’s. This cozy little deli has been in business since 1997 but honestly feels like it has been here forever. They serve all the Italian American classics – massive hot and cold sandwiches, many marinated vegetables and antipasti, soups, pasta and parm plates, salads and delicious daily specials. Italian grandmas and aunties still line up for the beloved meatballs while trade professionals, police, firefighters and fans from across town wait for those massive, beautifully constructed sandwiches made with delicious crusty bread stuffed with cheese and cold cuts of your choice. Carmine’s also has a full-service deli.

Carmine’s offers dine-in, which really consists of two tiny tables that offer some of the best people watching in town. But mostly folks come in for takeout and delivery. Carmine’s offers catering as well, and the menu includes their delicious arancini (rice balls) and dishes you can customize to your liking. It’s a classic hole in the wall with great food and an awesome team - may we always support these businesses in Jersey City. We would not be the same town without them.
