Sinatra Forever at Leo’s Grandevous

There are plenty of glamorous, new school Italian restaurants in Hudson County and there are also plenty of old school joints that match them for panache and mood! In JC, they include Laico’s and in Hoboken they include Leo’s Grandevous.

Leo’s. What’s not to love about this place? They have been in business since 1939. Allegedly it was Mr. Frank Sinatra’s favorite place in town. Whether that can be proven or not is of no consequence. His pictures adorn each wall. The Italian-American food and culture associated with him are here in full abundance.

Way back when, husband Leo & wife Tessie founded Leo's Grandevous on one simple but important principle: provide good food and good service to everyone who walks through the door, one customer at a time. While also playing great music and plastering the walls with pictures of the king.

Today, the music menu may be more subdued or varied. But the photos of Frank and the menu remain as timeless as ever. Pizza pies, pastas made with shrimp, veal or chicken, salads, and their mussels. Their PEI (Prince Edward Island) Mussels are probably their most popular dish and as with every classic Italian American are offered with three sauces to choose from – Marinara, Fra Diavolo, or Garlic White Wine.

Leo’s also has weekly specials (of course). Monday is Meatloaf Night, Tuesday is Butcher’s Choice, Wednesday is Three Meat Lasagna, Thursday is Osso Bucco and Friday is Mama Tessie’s famous Stuffed Calamari.
