Community, Wellness and Provisions from Common Earth

Searching for Zen, good vibes and some lovely well-curated merch? Look no further than The Common Earth Company. Located on a quiet stretch of Monticello Avenue, this store is such a gem. Owner Lisa is born and raised JC and her husband’s family owns the legendary Independent Beauty Supply store down the block. We think her store is for sure going to become such an integral part of the neighborhood’s fabric too.

First off, the physical space is so warm and welcoming. It’s sunny, the white walls are beautiful on their own but are covered with a series of iconic black and white prints of cultural icons. Common Earth also smells sublime – not sure which incense was burning or which natural home spray had been used (both are sold at the store) – but you literally feel so much more relaxed in this space. Lisa sells clothing from our good friend Nia of Myrtle and Flossie. She sells art, fashion, history and children’s books. There are collections of elevated snacks, natural cleaning products, candles, plants, jewelry, greeting cards, Chilltown-branded bags and pillows. There are also hair and body products and much more. Being community minded as she is, Lisa also conducts yoga classes on the weekend in her adjacent outdoor space (“We all need a practice,” she reminded me. Indeed). Follow on IG @thecommonearthcompany to keep up to date on all the positive things happening at this beautiful place! Such a fantastic business.
