A Great Taste of Chinese/Middle Eastern Fusion at Newport

Noodle Alert: A really good restaurant is open at Newport that specializes in the cuisine of Northwest China. DH (Dunhaung) Noodles is located at the base of the Beach residential building and boasts lovely views as well as super tasty food. This is the company’s 12th restaurant to open and the second in New Jersey (Edison was first) with all other locales spread throughout NYC and LA.

So first, the noodles. They are handpulled and you can customize the size, whether you prefer a super-thin, thin, medium or thick noodle. Beyond noodles, the menu is so interesting as it is a fusion of Chinese and Middle Eastern cuisine. As example, the small plates menu includes pita burgers filled with pork, beef and cumin-infused lamb.

The signature dish, however, is straight up Chinese. The Lanzou Beef Noodles features the noodle variety of your choosing, along with a radish-infused beef broth, housemade chili oil, green onion, cilantro and chunks of fatty beef. Beyond delicious! Vegetarians and vegans have plenty of options too.

This is a very welcome addition to the Newport neighborhood, with several other quality eateries slated to open throughout the rest of the year. Stay tuned!
