Eggs in the Afternoon at Gussy’s
We love the All-Day Brunch menu at Gussy’s which recently opened in the Village. We also love the space itself. It is sunny and spacious and includes a long window counter perfect for perching with your coffee and/or meal and looking out at all the action on Newark Ave.
Brunch specialties include Pancakes, Brioche French Toast, Country Style Eggs, and Smashed Avocado Toast. Topping off our list of those specialties are their versions of Egg Benedict – both the traditional and vegetarian versions have perfectly poached eggs and your choice of mixed greens or the very nicely seasoned home fries. Another top choice is the super healthy Breakfast Grain Bowl. It is comprised of a farro base topped with a poached egg, sauteed spinach, avo, feta, tomato, and a drizzle of olive oil and Zaatar.
There is also a great selection of interesting omelets and egg sandwiches including one with sausage, caramelized onions, grilled tomato, and a delightful gochujang aioli. The coffee drinks are a delight as are the cold non-caffeinated ones like the Lavender Lemonade. Lunch options are equally good – made-to-order salads and sandwiches that you can customize, too.
