Elio’s is Still a JC Treasure

Elio’s Bakery and Delicatessen is a West Side institution, attracting loyal customers for years with their freshly baked focaccia, Italian baguettes, stuffed breads, hot and cold subs and plenty of sweets. That includes Italian cookies (sugar, amaretto), cannoli, cakes, tarts, turnovers and delicious Sicilian doughnuts. A tip: if you are looking to stock up on breads and/or doughnuts, get there in the am, particularly on the weekends.

This family-run business is staffed by the very nicest of people who are unfailingly fast, funny and cheerful even in the busiest lunch rush. Owners Elio and Anna Tubito have been in this location since 1980. Generations of families revel in their memories of Elio’s growing up while newer residents too love coming here to get a taste of the “real” Jersey City. It’s a real treat to have such a classic Jersey City small business remain standing and thriving. Elio’s also offers catering packages. They are not on social media nor do they have a website so do yourself a favor and just drop in!
