Eritori Bringing the Best Japanese Street Eats
An amazing new food truck is bringing first class Japanese street food to Hoboken and Jersey City.
It’s called Eritori and the food is Yakitori, which is Japanese for grilled bird. It’s a hugely popular dish in Japan that consists of serving every single part of a chicken, skewering it and preparing it over charcoal. The particular preparation and charcoal used makes the chicken pieces crispy on the outside and tender and juicy in the middle, with the specific charcoal used imbuing the meat with a cleaner and less smoky taste than traditional charcoal.
Justin Guerra-Sarreal is the man behind this creative operation, born and raised in Jersey City. After attending St. Peter’s Prep and graduating from Johnson & Wale with multiple food-related degrees he spent time in a NYC Michelin-Starred Yakitori restaurant – along with time at Starbucks in Hoboken - before venturing out on his own.
In Hoboken, he started with eight different types of chicken skewers on the street, which immediately drew crowds. He has now moved on to include veggie, pork, steak and rice skewers, all offered with a delicious mix of savory sauces.
The hours are currently Tuesday – Saturday, but best to keep checking Justin’s IG as this business continues to boom!
