Family Brings Perfect Pairing of Plants & Eats to 70 Hudson

Everything is beautiful at Semicolon café. The small chain has shops in New York, New Jersey, Washington and Virginia. It’s the Jersey City branch at 70 Hudson St. however that boasts something extra special – their very own plant shop.

Enter the first floor of Semicolon and you will encounter the delights they are known for. Smoothies, sandwiches, macaroons, coffee, lattes, bubble teas and matcha including their super-special Korean matcha shaved ice. It’s a beautiful interior – bright, airy and impeccably decorated with a gorgeous assortment of space-altering house plants. Perfectly tended to by the café owner’s mother Michelle, they have been a constant talking point. After countless customer requests to purchase the plants, a lightbulb moment came to be and now the 2nd floor of the café is home to Michelle’s Green Thumb.

Grab your drink and head upstairs to peruse a lovely assortment of house plants and accessories including succulents, ever-hardy snake plants, a beautiful selection of framed moss paintings, key chains, hand-decorated planters and more. Michelle explored her love for plants and succulents in the midst of quarantine and has since collected and nursed thousands of plants.

What a delightful family affair this is, truly. Check it out!
