Hats off to Hook
The goal of our humble little newsletter has always been to help spotlight in any way possible the people, places and small businesses that make up Jersey City. In all of the gratifying fun of shouting out Jersey City artists, activists, volunteers and event planners along with owners of cafes, restaurants, retail shops – you name it – we have yet to single out one of the very best businesses out there – Hook Pharmacy.
Located on Washington Street in Paulus Hook, this tiny mom and pop (looking) shop delivers world class services. Pharmacist Bellande and his dedicated team offer the most informed, warm and personalized instruction as opposed to a polite handoff. It’s common neighborhood lore what a wonderful place this is. Neighbor after neighbor have recounted how special the service is, how Hook spends extra time explaining every detail of a medication and will do literally anything possible to help customers. It is above and beyond the norm what this tiny shop did and does for customers during COVID, during the prescribed drug shortages, and just during the trials of everyday life.
In all the deserved fanfare of supporting small businesses over the past couple of years, local pharmacies may have been forgotten. So it is not a charity ask (Hook’s service and knowledge is superior) but an ask all the same. Support each and every small shop! Thank you!
