If it’s Good Enough for Oprah…Maman Lands in JC
At the base of 70 Hudson, to be exact. New York City’s beloved Maman Bakery will open on Valentine’s Day. The first Maman opened in Manhattan in 2014 and now has 9 locations all over the city. What we love – besides the wonderful coffee, pastries, French dishes and best carrot soup ever – is the design principle. All based on a rustic yet sophisticated South of France motif, each location has a very distinct look that incorporates the existing architectural details of the space. With that we cannot wait to see what they do with the 70 Hudson St. location.
If you don’t feel like waiting until Valentine’s Day to check it out (we tend to avoid eating out on Valentine’s Day, but that’s just us), Maman Jersey City is hosting two back-to-back popups prior to the big open. The first is Friday, February 4th – Sunday February 6 followed by Friday February 11 – Sunday February 13. Both weekends the hours will be 9am – 4pm and will offer a limited menu that gives a glimpse of the fleshed out and delicious menu to come.

As for the Oprah reference – it all comes down to Maman’s famed nutty chocolate chip cookie. A trial-and-error recipe, it was an instant phenomenon with folks lining up for hours to try it. Ms. Winfrey declared said cookie to be one of her favorite things in 2017, which added even more frenzy. We look forward to trying everything on the menu over time. What a classy add to the Waterfront this will be, don’t you think?
