Jersey City Residents Stepping Up
As we are sure you know, there are many Jersey City residents creating, donating, and selling homemade face masks and coverings. We are here to thank you all and briefly highlight three of them –women who join the many female entrepreneurs in Jersey City and beyond who are devoting their time and talent to this initiative.
Megan Avery Designs
The Heights resident has been a professional sewing instructor for over 14 years. Avery has been making and donating at breakneck speed to people in need. She is now selling masks to those who can afford them to enable her to keep up production. Hand-sewn fabric masks - all cotton, washable and reversible – are sold in packs of 3 for $40. Each individual mask comes with an inside pouch for customers to add extra filter materials.

Leslie Lone, Hudson County Threads
Lone offers local, contactless pickup in Jersey City. Masks are sized S, M, L and Kids. Now of course, making a style statement is not the point of wearing a facial covering. But who does not want a mask with Dr. Fauci’s face on it? Again, not the point, but lots of other fetching designs are available. Kerry Lee Haas, Boxer Bros Leather Co.
Through her Etsy page Haas is selling triple layered masks, both shaped and flat-faced, made from a combination of cotton and acrylic felt. She has also tirelessly been making masks that are compliant for USPS, UPS, Fire and Police Department personnel. She also has a low/fixed income pricing option. Like Megan’s and Leslie’s work, her masks earn raves for comfort and construction.
