Laico’s Turn 50!

Congratulations to Laico’s Italian Restaurant on their 50-year anniversary this past May. Located at 67 Terhune Ave. in Greenville, Laico’s enduring success can be attributed to the evergreen reasons behind every enduring restaurant. They know who they are, they know who their customers are, and they offer great food served by great people. This family-owned and operated business has been serving classic red-sauce dishes (including all the parms) that have kept generations of families coming back for years. This is old school Jersey City, old-school Italian American dining at its finest. That is not to say however that Laico’s doesn’t keep up with the times. For one they managed to modernize service as needed to survive the throes of the pandemic, converting their parking lot into an outdoor dining space. This past February they updated and refreshed their menu while of course keeping all the tried-and-true dishes for which they are famous. Their pork chops would be their most signature dish and is available parmigiana with linguini or sauteed with vinegar peppers and mushrooms. Our favorite dishes include the Eggplant Rollatini and side of Escarole and Beans as starters. Speaking of starters, come to Laico’s with both an empty stomach and the ability to pace oneself. Upon seating, your meal begins with a gorgeous bowl of warm and buttery breads along with a nicely tossed simple salad. When it comes to mains, you just cannot go wrong here – it is simply a matter of what you are craving be it steak, shrimp, pasta, brick-oven pizza, or any combination of parmigiana dishes. A dinner out at Laico’s never disappoints and it is a wonderful place to visit with friends longing to know about the “old” Jersey City’s culinary traditions.
