More Life Brings Massive Vegan Flavors to Mallory Street

Jersey City Native Marcell Portes opened More Life in 2018 with the goal of transforming his health and that of his West Side community with a restaurant that differed from the fast food chains populating his neighborhood. The original naysayers included his own family members from the Dominican Republic, used to a meat-heavy diet. While the meat (and seafood and dairy) may be off the menu at More Life, the Caribbean flavors and ingredients Portes grew up with are still present, infusing the vegan dishes with plenty of flavor to entice family and other folks to give healthy vegan eating a satisfying try.

Pre-COVID19, folks from all over JC flocked to this friendly spot to sample rotating vegan dishes buffet style. While the buffet is currently closed, come in for takeout or order on Seamless or Grubhub. It is a selection of your basic comfort food of burgers, sandwiches, Mexican-themed appetizers, and sweet shakes and desserts – just sans the animal products.  Special shout out to the fresh juices, ice creams and our fave vegan app – the mac and cheese.

More Life Cafe, 191 Mallory Ave, Jersey City; 201-985-0001. Open daily from 11 am to 8 pm or order via Seamless or Grubhub.
