New Pottery Place in Hamilton Park
Attention potters and those aspiring to be one, a brand-new studio opens this month in Hamilton Park. Betty’s Ceramics joins the ranks of existing Jersey City studios like NYNJ Academy of Ceramic Art and Sandy Mones Pottery.
There are intro and advanced classes for adults and classes for kids as young as 5.
Adult sessions are 8 weeks and meet once weekly for 2.5 hours. The Intro to Wheel is for absolute beginners. In this program, instructors guide students through the fundamental techniques of clay preparation, centering, shaping, trimming and glazing. Weeks 1-4 focus on one learning module each week, while the last 4 classes repeat with time for individualized attention and special requests. Other classes offered right now include Intro to Hand Building, Intermediate Wheel and Ceramic Sampler, which includes both hand building and wheel.
