PLNTD Now Open for Business
We wrote awhile back about Tia Planta – the fabulous plant store/kiosk in McGinley Sq. that is owned and operated by JC’s very own Plant Aunt, Shayla Cabrera. As her business continues to boom, other local women are following her lead, either by cultivating their own gardens or branching out with their own business.
In the Case of PLNTD, the new plant shop and apothecary on Erie St., it’s actually two women. After months of preparation, sisters Lauren and Danielle opened shop in the cozy spot that used to house Three Little Bird’s downtown location (also run by a fab female entrepreneur, FYI). They sell a beautiful selection of exotic houseplants, all in excellent shape and in a range of colors, sizes and attributes suitable for any interior space. There is also a nice selection of planters and a wide range of home goods and personal accessories. Better yet, the sisters have curated a unique range of products by other NJ-based female entrepreneurs whose personal stories and business profiles are highlighted throughout the shop. Check out the candles, essential oils, pottery, cards, ceramics, JC-branded merch, masks and more. Cooler still – PLNTD has their line of branded merchandise (mugs, flasks, etc.) and all proceeds go directly towards SHATTERPROOF, a national non-profit organization dedicated to fighting the addiction crisis in NJ and across the country. One other item that will be sure to catch your eye? The gorgeous and dramatic moss art pieces created by a Montclair artisan who was inspired to create her work after losing her younger brother in 2020.
There was a lot of anticipation for this business to open, and at first visit you’ll see that it’s definitely been worth the wait. PLNTD is currently open Tuesday – Saturday from 11am – 8pm and Sunday – Monday from 11am – 6pm.
