Skinny Pizza = Great Pizza at Rustique

Jersey City is a pizza town bar none – that incudes you, New York City. The New York Times has written rhapsodically about Razza and Bread & Salt for excellent reasons of course. But here in JC we know that there are so many other classic Italian joints worthy of praise and writeups. This includes many places tucked away on quiet streets. Rustique on 5th St. and Jersey Avenue is one such spot.

We love the pies and slices here because they offer something distinctly different – a focus on crispy thin crusts topped with more savory sauce than cheese. Alongside the basic but perfect Margherita pizza, the menu includes lots of delicious pies like the Arugula and Prosciutto, the Buffalo Chicken and the Sausage and Broccoli Rabe. There are also classic Italian American pizza rolls, entrees and hot and cold hero sandwiches galore. Our favorite things here though are the simplest – the perfectly executed Margherita and the best (we swear) Arugula Salad ever. It is topped with shaved parmesan, cherry tomatoes and their delectable balsamic vinaigrette.

Rustique offers everything in their catering menu – and it is something to think about once office or house parties return to normal. The staff is exceptionally nice, and delivery comes fast-ish. The current hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, Friday from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, Saturday from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
