Ukrainian Hata is in the House!

Modern Ukrainian cuisine is here in Jersey City! Located inside of Paulus Hook’s Hudson Green Market, the dishes at Ukrainian Hata (“hata” being the Russian idiom for “house”) are modern interpretations of classic Ukrainian dishes. This lovely deli within the also-lovely Hudson Green offers their takes on the most popular dishes from each region of Ukraine making it a great cultural learning experience while also eating such yummy and comforting food. The Zhytomyr region is represented by their Derunyl. These are like potato pancakes and served as a 4-piece main course. The Ukraine Capital’s favorite dish, Chicken Kyiv, is served as cutlets with mashed potatoes on the side. The Cherkasy region’s famous Borscht is on the menu of course, and the In Vinnytsa area’s love of Bigos – a meat and cabbage Kielbasa – is here as well. There is also a great selection of sweet and savory Varenky (dumplings) that are served boiled or fried. Varenkys’ are loved all over Ukraine and once you taste them here, you will love them too. There also lovely soft drinks and desserts. We could not recommend a stop to this shop more!
