We Love You, Miss America

It’s coming up on the 80th birthday of Miss America Diner, the West Side Avenue classic located steps from the NJCU campus. Students, staff, neighbors, and folks from all walks of life come here on the regular not just for the yummy comfort food but the welcoming, friendly vibe. Come once and be treated like a regular. It’s clear the affable Greek family who now run Miss America truly love what they do, as did the past owners. It’s a joyful, comforting experience to eat here.

And if you’re eating clean at the start of the year and aren’t feeling diner staples (pancakes, waffles, etc.), Miss America has lots of healthy options, including lean burgers and lots and lots of salads. That said, the corned beef hash and burgers and fries here really hit the spot.

Congratulations to this JC institution for surviving and thriving. Corny as it sounds, eating here always reminds us what a very special city we live and work in.
